The New Mazda CX-60 3.3L MHEV Introduction

KLIMS 2026:  Bermaz Motor introduces the new Mazda CX‑60 3.3L MHEV, expanding the model’s presence in Malaysia following the successful debut of the 2.5L variant in September 2025. As Mazda’s first model developed under the Large Product Group, the CX‑60 continues to chart the brand’s premium direction, bringing together heightened driving performance, refined environmental efficiency, and the thoughtful, human‑centric engineering that defines Mazda’s craftsmanship

The CX-60 represents a new chapter of sophistication and performance within Mazda’s design evolution. Envisioned through the concept of Noble Toughness, it carries a presence that is powerful yet quietly refined, expressing a more mature interpretation of Mazda’s design philosophy, Kodo, which translates to Soul of Motion in Japanese. This expression is shaped by the aesthetic of Ma, the appreciation of purposeful space that brings calm reflection, balance and clarity to the vehicle’s proportions. Every contour and surface is crafted with the precision expected of something truly Crafted in Japan, where strength is guided by elegant restraint. Inside the cabin, this philosophy continues through the principle of Kaichou, the art of creating harmony by blending varied materials and textures to form an atmosphere of refined depth. Together, these elements create a design language that reflects Mazda’s devotion to craftsmanship and the enduring beauty of Japanese artistry.

Exterior Design
The Mazda CX-60 expresses the quiet power and living presence at the heart of Kodo design. Its form is shaped to feel as if it breathes, capturing motion in the stillness of a single moment. Light moves across its surfaces with quiet precision, revealing the depth and discipline behind every sculpted form. This expression is guided by the principles of Kodo design and balanced by the Japanese aesthetic of Ma, where the beauty of intentional space brings clarity and composure to the vehicle’s presence. The result is an exterior that feels disciplined yet expressive, a form shaped with the precision of something truly Crafted in Japan. Every curve and shadow reflects Mazda’s devotion to craftsmanship and the artistry of Japanese design.

For the CX-60 3.3 MHEV variant, this design expression is further refined through two exclusive exterior finishes, Machine Gray and Rhodium White, each shaping the CX-60 with its own character. Machine Gray is paired with a Honeycomb grille and a black plated signature wing, giving the front fascia a sense of athletic strength and depth. Rhodium White adopts a Bar type grille that emphasises purity and precision, presenting a more refined and composed presence. Both finishes feature body coloured wheel arches that create a seamless, sculpted profile, complemented by 20-inch alloy wheels finished in black for Machine Gray and Black Machined for Rhodium White. These elements elevate the stance of the CX-60, reinforcing its confident posture and highlighting the meticulous attention to detail that defines Mazda’s approach to design.

Interior Design
Inside the CX‑60, the cabin is shaped to feel calm, open and meticulously composed, reflecting Mazda’s dedication to creating interiors that are both welcoming and deeply considered. A wide horizontal layout anchors the space, bringing balance and composure to an environment that feels serene and unmistakably Crafted in Japan.

In the CX‑60 3.3L MHEV variant with the White interior, this philosophy is expressed with greater richness through materials and techniques rooted in Japanese heritage. The wood trim draws inspiration from Hacho, an aesthetic that embraces asymmetrical balance and intentional unevenness, while woven fabrics feature patterns and yarns that respond subtly to changes in light. Completing this artistry are two traditional stitching techniques, Kakenui, which creates a floating seam with deliberate spacing, and Musubu, a knot inspired method symbolising connection through interlaced threads. The Tan interior offers a more traditional execution with standard stitching yet maintains the same sense of refinement and composure that defines the CX‑60.

The cockpit of the CX‑60 is shaped around the driver with a clear and intuitive layout that brings every essential function into effortless reach. Three key displays, the 12.3-inch multi-information cluster, the Active Driving Display and the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, work together to present information with clarity and calm, allowing the driver to remain fully connected to the road ahead. Guided by Mazda’s Human Machine Interface philosophy, each element is positioned to support natural visibility and reduce unnecessary eye movement, creating a quiet flow of information that feels easy to absorb. The Driver Personalization System complements this by recognising the driver and restoring preferred seating, mirror and climate settings the moment they enter, adding a sense of familiarity to the cabin.

Mi Drive continues this human centric approach by shaping the vehicle’s character to suit the road ahead. The addition of Off-road Mode in the 3.3L MHEV variant broadens the capability of the CX‑60, yet the transition remains calm and intuitive, preserving the smooth and confident behaviour that defines Mazda’s driving feel. Ventilated 10-way power seats and ambient lighting further enhance comfort and atmosphere, adding refinement to the cabin without disrupting its clean and driver centric layout.

The sense of connection is strengthened by clearer text displays, expanded navigation information and i Activsense settings arranged for quick and intuitive reading. A 360-degree View Monitor with See Through View, a reverse camera with guidelines, seamless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and wireless charging support everyday convenience. The 12-speak BOSE sound system completes the experience with an immersive acoustic environment, balancing clarity and depth to create a soundstage that feels rich and enveloping for every occupant.

Powertrain & Driving Dynamics
The CX‑60 is powered by Mazda’s SkyActiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, a platform created to support a longitudinal front‑engine rear‑wheel drive layout that forms the basis of its balanced and natural driving feel. At its core is the e‑SkyActiv G 3.3L inline‑6 turbo engine, chosen for its smoothness and refined character. With a high compression ratio, improved combustion and a twin‑scroll single turbocharger, it delivers strong acceleration and excellent fuel efficiency in a way that feels effortless and composed.

Mazda’s M Hybrid Boost system complements this with a 48V mild hybrid setup that assists acceleration, enables seamless i‑Stop operation and regenerates energy during deceleration. The result is a powertrain that feels immediate yet refined, producing 280 hp and 450 Nm through an 8‑speed automatic transmission (8‑EAT) that shifts with precision and continuity. This smooth, intuitive response supports Mazda’s Jinba‑Ittai philosophy, where the vehicle’s reactions feel closely aligned with the driver’s intention.

The CX‑60’s driving dynamics build on this foundation with a rear‑wheel‑drive‑based i‑Activ AWD platform that preserves the neutral cornering characteristics of a rear‑wheel drive vehicle while adding the stability and traction expected of AWD. In Mi‑Drive’s Sport and Off‑road modes, the system works with the powertrain and braking systems to optimise drive force distribution across varying surfaces and conditions, allowing the vehicle to remain composed and predictable in a wide range of environments.

A low centre of gravity, achieved by positioning the high‑voltage battery between the axles and as low as possible within the chassis, contributes to stable handling and smooth transitions. High bodyshell rigidity, a new seat design with improved body support and double wishbone front and multi‑link rear suspension systems help the vehicle maintain its posture naturally, reinforcing the sense of car and driver moving in harmony.

Mazda’s Kinematic Posture Control, previously introduced in earlier models, continues to support stability by subtly managing body movement during cornering. This works in harmony with the regenerative‑friction brake coordination system and brake‑by‑wire technology, which balance friction braking with energy regeneration to deliver smooth, consistent deceleration. Together, these elements create a driving experience that is confident, composed and closely aligned with the Jinba‑Ittai spirit that defines Mazda.

Safety
The Mazda CX‑60 continues to reflect the brand’s unwavering commitment to safety, proudly carrying its 5‑star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) achieved in 2022. This recognition highlights the model’s strong performance in adult and child occupant protection, its ability to safeguard vulnerable road users and the effectiveness of its advanced driver assistance systems. It stands as a testament to Mazda’s dedication to building vehicles that prioritise real‑world protection and driver confidence.

The CX‑60 is equipped with a broad range of safety features that combine robust structural engineering with Mazda’s advanced i‑Activsense technologies. From braking and stability systems to occupant protection and child safety provisions, every component has been thoughtfully integrated to support the driver in all conditions. This balanced approach to proactive and passive safety reflects Mazda’s human‑centric philosophy, ensuring that protection never comes at the expense of comfort, clarity or peace of mind.

Mazda’s i‑Activsense suite brings together a comprehensive set of technologies designed to heighten awareness and support safer decision‑making on the road. The system adapts intelligently to changing environments with features such as High Beam Assist (HBA), Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane Keep Assist System (LAS) with Road Departure Prevention (RDP), Driver Attention Alert (DAA) with Driver Monitoring, Front and Rear Smart Brake Support (SBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS). Each function is designed to work quietly in the background, enhancing the driver’s natural awareness without disrupting the intuitive flow of driving.

Structural protection is equally comprehensive, with a high‑rigidity body designed to absorb and distribute impact forces effectively, complemented by a full suite of airbags and carefully engineered crumple zones. Visibility and manoeuvring support systems such as the 360° View Monitor with See‑Through View, reverse camera and parking sensors further reduce stress in tight or complex environments, reinforcing everyday confidence.

Together, these systems reinforce the CX‑60’s role as a protective and reassuring companion on every journey. The combination of intelligent assistance, strong structural integrity and thoughtful cabin protection ensures that safety is not just a feature, but a core part of the vehicle’s character, fully aligned with Mazda’s belief in creating cars that support the driver with clarity, confidence and calm assurance.

The Mazda CX‑60 3.3L MHEV is offered in two exclusive exterior and interior pairings, Rhodium White with a Pure White interior and Machine Gray with a Tan interior, each curated to emphasise the variant’s refined, premium character, while the Mazda CX‑60 2.5L variant’s exterior colours remain unchanged with Soul Red Crystal, Rhodium White, Jet Black, Platinum Quartz and Zircon Sand, preserving the expressive Kodo presence that defines the CX‑60 lineup.
